‘Rhythm & Rhapsody’ Set To Entertain

2769

It’s been another busy year for Tauranga based INACHORD women’s chorus who meet weekly in a social setting in Bethlehem primarily to prepare new and entertaining programmes for their annual concert held each November.

When originally formed twelve years ago the group immersed itself in the genre of A Cappella singing. Now, under the musical direction of Andrew Braid for the last three years, Inachord continue their love of harmony but now bring it to a broader cross section of both popular and traditional music. The use of backing tracks and an emphasis on the skill of entertaining their audiences has given the chorus diversity and wider appeal.

Andrew Braid has a background in musical theatre not only performing in many leading roles but also musically directing several popular shows. Whilst living in Taranaki, prior to his move to Tauranga, Andrew held the role of Choral Director of the Patea Maori Club for sixteen years and directed the musical show Poi E.  He also directed Adagio, a chorus specialising in dinner theatre.

Andrew now teaches singing in Tauranga and during 2019 has taken the Inachord Chorus out into the community to be heard by a wider audience. The response has been very rewarding with enthusiastic receptions by concert goers in Katikati, Omokoroa and also by clients at Waipuna Hospice.

This year’s ‘Rhythm & Rhapsody’ concert features a host of new material mixed with a few firm favourites. The audience may also look forward to appearances by two guest artists.

Lisa Lorell is a highly versatile performer who enjoys singing a wide variety of music from Light Opera to Musical Theatre, Cabaret and Swing Jazz through to Country Rock and Pop. Lisa has graced stages in the UK and Australasia for over 25 years and played many leading roles in Musical theatre in the Auckland area. Travelling extensively with ‘Operatunity’ through the years Lisa is no stranger to the concert venue of Holy Trinity Church.

Lisa’s latest venture is her own show, entitled ‘Elevenses’, entertaining audiences with songs dear to all followed by a welcome morning tea.

Ben Johnstone is relatively new to the entertainment scene in Tauranga but has nevertheless been kept busy. In the last eighteen months Ben has appeared in five shows the most recent of which saw him performing in ‘Wicked’.

Inachord is looking forward to entertaining you all with a programme guaranteed to set your feet tapping and to lift your spirits.
