Morehu Day Aotearoa 2017 was hosted by Tauranga Moana on 18th November 2017

The Saturday morning pōwhiri was held at Te Pa o Te Ariki (Te Ariki Park), 450 Maungatapu Road, Maungatapu, Tauranga, where the visitors were led in by an impressive contingent of representatives from seven Rātana bands:

  1. Arepa (Ratana)
  2. Omeka (Whangarei)
  3. Piriwiritua (Kaikohe)
  4. Hāmuera (Hastings)
  5. Te Reo o Te Ratana Tuatoru (Bay of Plenty)
  6. Nga tuahine (Whanganui Atara – Wellington region)
  7. Whaea O te katoa (South Island)

The Rātana movement is a religion and pan-iwi political movement founded by Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana in early 20th-century New Zealand. The te Haahi Ratana has its headquarters at the settlement of Rātana pā near Whanganui. (Source: Wikipedia)
